Making a dubstep track in 8 hours

How long should a track take to produce? Some producers labor away for weeks or months; others bang ‘em out with almost industrial efficiency. Synthtopia has pointed us to a video by James Provan, aka GiR2007, who gives himself the task of creating a dubstep track—his first attempt at the style—in eight hours. The time-lapse portion of the video is a little underwhelming, but the second half of the video features the track in full. (It would be nice to see more detail in his Logic arrangement, however.) What’s your verdict: does it cut the mustard? And how long do your tracks take to create? Watch this video on Beatportal
