Metronomy: The English Riviera – review
(Because Music) Despite its title, the dance pop band’s third album is not a concept piece about B&Bs in Torbay, although it is partly inspired by frontman Joseph Mount’s upbringing just down the coast. The opening track’s squawking seagulls set the tone and what follows is the band’s best songwriting to date as they aim for a whimsical Devonshire equivalent of Californian, middle of the road pop that dominated the 70s. ”Some Written” even has what sounds like an old-fashioned cinema organ, evoking cheap holidays, beach huts and saucy postcards rather than sand, surf and girls. Beatport #1: Solomun – Kackvogel
A congratulations is due to Solomun , whose track ” Kackvogel ” just hit the number one postion on Beatport’s Top 100 chart. This alluring slice of deep house is just about what we’ve come to expect from the veteran producer—a quality affair through and through filled with adventurous rhythms, smoothed-over instrumentation, slippery low end, and even a touch of playful vocals. Aside from this single, Solomun also dropped his contribution to the highly regarded Watergate mix series, Watergate 11 , just last week. Clearly there’s a reason the man is in such high demand. You can watch the video for ”Kackvogel” after the jump. Read more on Beatportal Läs mer

The 50 most charted tracks of March
DJ Koze was such a standard presence in Beatport’s DJ charts last year, you almost wondered if he ought to be contributing towards the rent; his ”Blume der Nacht” started turning up in our most-charted tracks lists shortly after it appeared, at the end of May, and for the rest of the year it remained enough of a fixture to land at #32 in the year’s most charted tracks. Now, there are plenty of artists who placed higher, but can you think of another DJ quite as out there as Koze who still manages to gather such a broad base of support from his peers? There ain’t many, that’s for sure—not when you consider recent Koze headscratchers like ”Xmas Rush.” Well, he’s done it again, landing in the number-one slot of March’s 50 most charted tracks with his mix of Efdemin’s ”There Will Be Singing.” Read on for the full list of the 50 most charted tracks from March, including cuts from Steffi, Cirez D, Inxec, Julio Bashmore, and more.
