After months of hard work behind the scenes, the highly anticipated second instalment of John Digweed’s Structures is finally here, following on from 2010’s debut, which was met with critical acclaim worldwide and also won the Community Choice Top DJ Mix at the Beatport Music Awards 2011. We got a unqie opportunity to ask John a few questions about his latest creation. While being an icon for electronic music how do you still find motivation and creativeness to proceed with your productions? Well I am very lucky to have a profession that is my hobby and passion it`s also my job so I still get very excited about DJ`ing , producing and running a label, I never wake up and moan about going to work When and why did you decide to create a follow to 2010s success? Around september time I started planning the follow up, I like to spend a lot of time on my albums to make them as good as I can. What is the main difference between the Structures CDs and the Transitions series? Transitions was a straight up mix comp series while Structures and structures Two has a massive connection with bedrock records label showcasing new artists, live mixes and documentary content. While delivering Strucutres in 2010 which won a few huge prices one being the Beatport Music Awards don´t you feel a huge pressure that this CD has to over perform to even reach the same level as the earlier release? As long as I am happy when I hand the final mixes in that is all I care about as I know I have worked very hard to create something that hopefully people will enjoy How did you come up with the concept for the 3 CDs? I had so much content that it needed to be spread over 3 CD`s How was the process done choosing all the individual tracks that are on the CDs? It`s what I do all day every day so when i get sent special tracks I put them aside for my new comps to give it a lot of excusives John Digweed & Nick Muir´s brand new track called 30 Northeast You also include a live CD from Avalon in Los Angeles, which did you feature this specific set? What was the reason choosing just this specific set? I have a great relationship with LA and that gig at avalon was very special so it`s great to include a snapshot of that set for my fans What is you absolute favorite track for the individual CDs? Guy J`s Lamur is an incredible tracks that sends tingle up my back. Are you now going on a tour with the CD release and this something which will last during the summer as well? Yes I will be touring this throughout the summer it`s has the amazing Blissed out Electronica Cd that I think people will love for after party`s and lazy by the pool Bedrock has got off to an amazing start in 2011 will also see other artists release their own Structures CDs in the future? Lets see I want to make sure that the concept stays special and people get excited about the cd`s so having too many album releases could go against us as a label.
